Round 6 Preview: Away @ South Yarra
Share
Black Rock are set to take on South Yarra away at Fritsch Holzer Park (Camberwell Road, East Hawthorn) this Saturday. The match shapes as the most important of the season for the two teams. Both sides are winless so far in both the Seniors and Reserves. There is talk that only one side will be relegated from Division 2 this season, so a Senior win to either side will be a major boost in the quest to avoid demotion. Fritsch Holzer Park is a uniquely sized ground and the Rockers will have to learn fast to overcome South Yarra's local knowledge.
Black Rock seniors had their best showing of the year last week against Murrumbeena. While they still went down by 44 points, coach Simon Beshara was pleased that his side put in a sustained four quarter effort. Importantly, there were no major injuries to come out of that game, a rare occurrence in an injury plagued season. Consequently, there are only a few minor tweaks to the side this week, with Tom Dewar returning from a hamstring injury. Colin Wiltshire and Brad Meehan are two big names that are unavailable for the clash, but both a chance of returning in coming weeks.
The weather forecast is for showers to clear by the afternoon with only a light breeze, great conditions for footy! For such an important game, it is crucial that as many Black Rock supporters attend as possible.
Seniors and reserves will both be travelling to the ground together on a bus, everyone is to meet 930am at the club rooms.
