Round 10 review / Round 11 preview

The boys had to wait until the second half of the year to record their second win but did it in style against the Southern Dragons. After several improved performances, it all came together in the second half. In what looked like a mud wrestle at times thanks to the boggy conditions, neither side was able to gain a strong advantage until the final minutes when late goals to Tom Dewar and Cooper Ferries sealed the win. Cory Durie set the tone in the midfield for Black Rock with strong support from Brad Meehan. There were contributers all over the ground with skipper Dave Dewar dominant in defence, Sean Harris too good in the ruck and Marty Wickham showed his class in front of the big sticks. On debut, Ben Whiting put in a blinder of a final quarter and played a large role in getting the boys over the line. Jake the snake was his usually skilful best, while Forbesy (what's his first name?) got a dose of leather poisoning. Last time we played Bentleigh we were able to match it for a half until the wheels fell off in the third quarter. This time around the team is looking far fitter and have improved greatly in recent weeks. Expect the Rockers to escape with a win here. Meehan and Nick Jewell have been in strong form and can continue on their way. Permanent forward, Wickham booted his second goal in 10 games and is on a bit of a streak. Look for him to have a day out.
