'Johno' played his junior and early Senior footy at Frankston YCW and Karingal, before arriving at Black Rock FC in 1999. He played over 180 games for the club between 1999-2012. The vast majority of them in the Seniors as a small forward who'd provide a chop out in the middle. He served on the club's committee for three years as well. The connection he has to the club runs even deeper though, with his grandfather being a BRFC life member and premiership player. 'Johno' spent his last couple of years at the Black Rock filling in for the Reserves, before playing a dozen games last season for Albert Park. He can't wait to return and take on the new challenge of coaching the Reserves. "This is my first coaching role, so no doubt I'll be learning a lot as I go...but I'm certainly looking forward to jumping into to it and returning to the club I love." Brent Ward, 2x BRFC B & F winner, games record holder and the uncle of new recruit, Daniel Kick will be supporting 'Johno' on game days. Senior coach John Burke and his assistants Andy Dewar, Steve Baranski and Cory Durie will also be working closely with the Reserves coach to make sure there is a continuity of message for both of our sides.
