Coaches Corner: Round 4 Report

Senior Coach John Burke's Match Report With numbers low it was great to see guy's step up and play in the reserves on the weekend. Whilst the result was not the best it was great to see the team keep going for 4 quarters and new players getting in there and amongst it. Very important we keep numbers on the track and make the side competitive as we mover forward. Seniors were competitive for 3 quarters where our game style looked good at times. The back line worked very hard and our midfield provided great opportunity for our forwards. Jason Frydman played a very hard and discipline game all day on the wing and good to see some of our leaders back on the ground. Unfortunately with a slight lead at 3/4 times some late injuries to a couple of players allowed Lyndale to run out winners on the day, however for us it was pleasing to see guys continually improve which will enable us to reform this playing group this year and beyond. Reserves Coach John Sinclair's Match Report Perfect conditions greeted the boys at Barry Powell Reserve for the clash against Lyndale on Saturday, as a very fresh and inexperienced Black Rock side took to the field. With a number of first gamers and guys new to the game this year, it was always going to be a challenge taking on Lyndale on their home deck with only 18 men for the day. Lyndale jumped out of the blocks with the early run of play and looked impressive, however the endeavour of the undermanned Black Rock boys could not be questioned. Robbie Rotherham put in a super game in the ruck, and the veteran Bradley Nopper was tireless as always. As the game rolled on a few injuries left Black Rock with only 15 men on the field, yet the boys showed great resilience All day the message was to focus on working hard when the opposition had the ball, and to push through comfort levels when the hard work was there to be done. Despite being out gunned by an impressive Lyndale outfit, the boys certainly never stopped working and achieved both objectives.
