Stephen Rowe Inaugural Women’s Football Coach
Black Rock Football Netball Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Stephen Rowe as our inaugural women’s football coach for season 2022.
Steve joins BRFNC with 14 years of experience coaching throughout the football pathway, including Junior and Senior Women’s leagues, V-Line and Next Generation competitions. He’s a Level 2 AFL Accreditated Coach and also provides individual coaching services to players through his “One on One” Player Development Program.
From 2019-2021 Steve has been the Head Coach at Mornington Women’s Football Club in the Premier Division SEWFL. Prior to that, he was Head Coach of the Pearcedale Women’s football side 2017 – 2018, winning a Premiership in 2018.
In his playing days, he spent 5 years with South Melbourne Districts Football Club, also training with the under 19’s Sydney Swans Football Club.
As a coach, he values productive, professional and supportive relationships with his team and open and transparent team culture. He’s passionate about a positive team environment and supporting his players to achieve both performance and personal development goals.

Pre-season for our women’s program will get underway at the end of November, with several sessions held before Christmas, before resuming in late January.

What is the club like?
Black Rock FNC is a small club where everyone knows your name. It’s an inclusive, positive, social, family-friendly and welcoming environment it’s an amazing place to socialise and improve on your sport.
BRFNC has a well organised and established committee that has the club strongly positioned off the field and strategically placed for a strong future.
What are the facilities like?
Bayside City Council has made a significant investment in recent times in upgrading grassroots facilities to support growing female participation. With the completion of the $4m Donald MacDonald Reserve Pavillion upgrade due in early 2022 as well as a full ground resurfacing, our women’s team will enjoy the best facilities in Bayside.
What competition do we play in?
BRFNC compete in the Southern Football Netball League, which in 2021 grew to a 14 team women’s football competition and offers a challenge for players of all skill levels and backgrounds.
The Jets field men’s and women’s football teams and women’s netball teams and they also have an Auskick program for junior boys and girls.
