Applications Open: Men’s Thirds Coach

The Coach of the Men’s Thirds team will be responsible for leading the team for parts of training sessions and on weekends for matches. The successful applicant will work closely alongside and be supported by the Director of Football and the Men’s Coaching Panel. The successful applicant will be expected to provide leadership and direction to their players, both on and off the field. This position could be perfectly suited for someone who has previously worked as an assistant coach and is looking to take the next step in their coaching career, or it could equally be taken on by someone with a genuine passion for footy who is looking to start their journey.

It’s important to note that both our Reserves and Thirds teams are expected to have a healthy number of young players who are still relatively new to Senior football. These players are highly coachable and have a lot of potential for improvement, making this an exciting opportunity for a coach looking to make a strong impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Help to oversee the organisation of training throughout the week, including drills and match strategy.
  • Perform team selection week to week, including involvement in Reserves selection.
  • Lead the Thirds team on game days with the help of the team manager and the player leaders.
  • Communicate with the Director of Football and Men’s Coaches regarding player and team performance.
  • Educate the playing group and help them develop on and off the field in their football journeys.

Desirable Skills:

  • Commitment to the Club and the Thirds team.
  • Enthusiasm to be an active participant in the Club.
  • Understanding the balance of playing footy while enjoying the game.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Relevant Coaching Accreditation – Level 1 AFL
  • First Aid Certificate.
  • Working with Children / Working with Vulnerable People Check.
  • Driver’s License.

Application Instructions: Please submit your application to Football Director Jason Tickner at jtickner@blackrockfnc.com.au, or call 0468 716 720 for any questions. Applications close on 14th February 2024.
